Don't be afraid to take a vacation alone or to spend that time fulfilling your own selfish desires. This can even be accomplished even if traveling solo for business purposes.

6. Don't Forget the Danger

It might be tempting, but never minimize the actual threat for danger when traveling alone. Be aware of what is going on around you, but do not become overwhelmed to the point of fear by it. Simply stay alert just in case.

5. Forget Being Helpless

Oh, no, no. Never ever feel or act helpless. Forget that. Be confident and ask someone when assistance is needed. Most people are friendly enough to respond with answers to questions. Also, walk confidently, head held high to avoid appearing weak or helpless to predators. Additionally, go into a shop to check a map.

4. Forget the Social Media

Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder. This does include a bit of absence from social media as well. Need anything else be said?

3. Don't Fear Dining Alone

It is perfectly okay to dine alone. Think of it as taking yourself out to dinner. Be confident and enjoy it.

2. Trust No One

Do not walk around fearful of everyone you meet, but do not treat them as if they have been your life-long friend. You may find yourself lacking certain valuables if you trust them to hold or to watch something for you while you step away for a bit, for instance.

1. Safety First

Safety should always be at the top of the list when traveling, solo or not. Trust no one, be mindful of your surroundings, and never forget the danger. Just do not focus on these things to the point that the trip is fearful instead of fun.The key is to be confident and follow all safety instructions. Use your common sense.
